Would we listen to a song differently if we couldn’t pause, skip or repeat it? What if we knew that it would never be heard again?

THE SONG GALLERY is a new gallery dedicated to asking these questions. Whilst there are countless galleries showcasing the work of visual artists, the work of songwriters is rarely appreciated as a ‘work of art’. We have invited three contemporary songwriters to each produce a work which will be played for a limited time in a bespoke listening environment. These songs are presented in isolation, uninhibited by the context of album, playlist or live performance. Most importantly, these are newly commissioned songs which will be showcased for a specific day in a specific space, never to be heard again.
